About me.
Hi, I’m Leanne — your friendly neighbourhood bookkeeper.
After 20 years of working in an office, I decided to start Slatcher Bookkeeping as I missed working with numbers and doing the day-to-day tasks on the financial side. I also wanted more flexibility and to finally be my own boss.
After graduating in 1999, I went directly to Red River College for the Computer Accounting Technician program. After that, I started working as a Customer Service Representative in Winnipeg and quickly advanced into the AP/AR Coordinator role for 6 years.
That position had me entering bills, completing PO logs, making monthly accrual adjustments from the PO logs, and daily bank deposit and reconciliations at the end of the month. I left there in 2008 and started working for a local construction company as their Office Manager which involved many hats. I entered and paid bills, created and issued customer invoices, reconciled the credit card accounts monthly (25 credit cards), daily bank deposits and entries, reconciliation of bank statements, loan accounts monthly, preparation for year end with the external accountants, GST/PST/WCB filings monthly, payroll and HR including remittance of all source deductions.
I also handled the freight/logistics and corporate travel program. In 2015, I moved into the General Manager role and took on more of the construction reporting such as profit/loss for each project, monthly work in progress, inventory of equipment and tools, as well as maintaining the insurance and bonding.
During my 13 years I also upgraded my knowledge base through Red River College, completing courses such as Financial Accounting 1 and 2, as well as Payroll/HR.
Recently, I received my ProAdvisor certification with QuickBooks Online. In the past I have also worked with Simply Accounting, NetSuite and Spectrum/Viewpoint.
My ultimate goal at Slatcher Bookkeeping is to keep upgrading my education and work towards a certificate in bookkeeping while gaining long term clients.
When I’m not working with numbers, I love to bake. In fact, if I wasn’t so passionate about numbers, I would be running a bakery in my small town of Lorette, Manitoba.
